How Services Work

We all should have a communications plan to stay connected with family and friends when our lives take unexpected twists and turns. How would you, your family and friends notify or reconnect with one another should one of the following emergencies or disasters take place: hurricane, tornado, earthquake, wildfire, tsunami, flash flood, mass transit accident or act of terrorism?

What if you, your family and friends...

  • Suffered a complete power outage?
  • Were separated, and evacuated or displaced to various shelters, churches or hospitals?
  • Don't have a cell phone, lost a cell phone or cell phone coverage, or cell phone battery is dead?
  • Don't use social media networking tools (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, etc.)?
  • Had no source of communicating with the outside world about one another's well-being and whereabouts?

Now of course, each of these scenarios could happen at once, or only one or two could happen. That's why we invite you, your family and friends to review the tabs below to learn more about how this service works to help you, your family, and friends communicate with one another in times of emergency and disaster.

Registration
We encourage everyone to register before an emergency or disaster should occur. What does it cost? There is no cost: 100% FREE! The last thing anyone should have to do is pay when trying to notify or communicate the well-being and whereabouts, or find out the well-being and whereabouts of their family and friends.

It's simple: register using a PC or cell phone (Step One) that has internet access and a web browser. Upon successfully registering for an account (Step Two), members have access to securely send and receive Voicemail and Web Search/Email Notifications. In addition, we recommend members add as many immediate family members and family/friend profiles to one account as possible for the best chance of notifying and communicating their well-being or whereabouts (Step Three) should a family member or friend be involved in an emergency or disaster.

Web Search
By way of cell phone, phone, or laptop (Step One), members can access our website to search for family and friends. Enter the person's name, or any other personal information to limit the search. Within seconds family and friends have access to the Safe&Sound database (Step Two) to know whether the registered person is Safe&Sound (Step Three). If you, family or friends have successfully identified someone is registered and has submitted a Safe&Sound notification, the following message will be displayed:

John Doe
Disaster: Hurricane Katrina
Gender: Male
Call: 936-155-1111
Safe&Sound as of: 08-29-2005
Notification Awaits...Search Now

In addition, if the person included you as either an Immediate Family Member or a Family/Friend Profile to their account, you could also receive a Safe&Sound email notification.

Voicemail
Upon successful registration, members are assigned a username and password, and a voicemail box extension (Step One). In the event of a natural disaster, members can call their voicemail box via a toll-free number and leave a Safe&Sound message for loved ones (Step Two). In addition to receiving Safe&Sound voicemail notifications via email, members associated with the account call the same toll-free number and can listen to messages after providing proper identification. (Step Three).

On-Site Satellite Communications
In addition to the Voicemail and Web service offerings, our staff is deployed when emergencies and disasters are federally declared 'impacted communities', having lost all power and communications capabilities.

Partnering with local shelters, churches, and organizations providing shelter to displaced individuals and families, impacted communities are setup with a mini mobile communications center equipped with phones and netbooks utilizing satellite services.
